Public exhibitions
RES completed a comprehensive pre-application engagement programme, for the Mynydd Maen Wind Farm, in order to proactively inform and engage with the local community and key stakeholders.Online public exhibition - March 2022
Our first public exhibition was held online (due to Covid-19 restrictions) in March 2022. The public exhibition presented information on the proposal including the initial design and layout of the wind farm alongside visualisations to give an impression of what the site could look like from different viewpoints in the area.People interested in the proposal were invited to individual telephone or video calls with the project team, for further information and to ask any questions.
People were also able to provide their feedback on the proposal through a comment form provided as part of the online public exhibition.
Public exhibition - June 2023
Public exhibitions were held in Newbridge and Pontnewydd during June 2023, where information was provided on the updated proposal.
Alongside an updated layout plan and environmental and technical information, visitors were once again able to view visualisations of what the wind farm would look like, from various viewpoints in the local area.
Members of the team were on hand to answer questions and comment forms were available to gather feedback. All the information provided at the public exhibitions was also available to view on the project website.


Statutory consultation
Pre-application Consultation
On 31 January 2024, statutory Pre-application Consultation was held on the draft planning application, for a period of six weeks closing on 15 March 2024.The Pre-application Consultation enabled statutory consultees and the local community to view the entire draft planning application, and make any comments directly to RES. The draft planning application was available to view on the project website.
Following the Pre-application Consultation, the planning application was finalised and submitted to PEDW in July 2024.
Formal Consultation
Following validation of the planning application, PEDW held a formal five-week consultation enabling statutory consultees and the local community to make representations, on the application directly to PEDW. The formal consultation commenced on 14 April 2025 and closed on 19 May 2025.
After reviewing the planning application and written representations, PEDW's appointed Inspector requested Further Information to benefit their Examination. PEDW held a formal five-week consultation on the Further Information, which closed on 14 October 2025.
Hearings
Hearings were held by PEDW's Inspector between 2 and 4 December 2025 to discuss matters relating to the application, with participants including the local authorities and NRW invited to one or more of the Hearing sessions.
The Hearing sessions were held in public via Microsoft Teams.
