Planning Submission

In July 2024, RES submitted a planning application for the 13 turbine Mynydd Maen Wind Farm to Planning and Environment Decisions Wales (PEDW) and the formal 5-week consultation period commenced on 14 April 2025. A statutory consultation period was advertised by PEDW to enable the public, as well as statutory consultees, to submit their comments on the proposal. The closing date for comments was 19 May 2025. 

After reviewing the planning application and written representations, PEDW's appointed Inspector requested Further Information to benefit their Examination. A statutory consultation period was advertised by PEDW to enable the public, as well as statutory consultees, to submit their comments on the Further Information. The closing date for comments was 14 October 2025.

Following the formal 5-week consultation period for the Further Information, the dates and schedule for the Hearings have now been confirmed by PEDW. The Hearings will take place across 3 days from 2 December 2025 and matters to be discussed are: Landscape and Visual Impact, Public Rights of Way, Ecological Matters, Aviation, Minerals Safeguarding, Planning Conditions and Obligations and the Secondary Consent Applications. Any matters for consideration in respect of the application but which are not identified in the Hearing agendas, will be dealt with by the Inspector on the basis of written representations.

The Hearing Sessions will be held in public via MS Teams, and any person may attend to observe proceedings. Additionally, if any person who has not been invited to participate wishes to take part in the Hearing, they may request that the Inspector allow them to do so. Anyone wishing to observe proceedings or ask to participate should contact Nicola Bond, Case Officer at PEDW.infrastructure@gov.wales as soon as possible and not later than 2 weeks before the first Hearing Session. The invited participants for any Hearing Session is a matter entirely down to the discretion of the appointed Inspector.

RES has an Environmental Management System which actively encourages the reduction of paper consumption and promotes recycling where possible. To further reduce paper use, RES would prefer that the Environmental Statement (ES) is viewed on the project website or that copies of the ES are requested in USB format.

Hard copies of the full ES are available to purchase from RES at a cost of £250. Copies of the full ES are available on USB free of charge. Hard copies of the non-technical summary are available free of charge.
