In July 2024, RES submitted a planning application for the 13 turbine Mynydd Maen Wind Farm to Planning and Environment Decisions Wales (PEDW) and the formal 5-week consultation period commenced on 14 April 2025. A statutory consultation period was advertised by PEDW to enable the public, as well as statutory consultees, to submit their comments on the proposal. The closing date for comments was 19 May 2025.

After reviewing the planning application and written representations, PEDW's appointed Inspector requested Further Information to benefit their Examination. Following the formal 5-week consultation period for the Further Information, Hearings were held between 2 and 4 December 2025. The Inspector is expected to complete his report for the Welsh Ministers in the first quarter of 2026 with a decision from the Welsh Ministers expected within 12 weeks of receiving the Inspector's report.
